EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — An 85-year-old man was arrested after Suffolk police say he threatened a dog walker whose animal was going to the bathroom on the lawn of his East Patchogue home's property last Thursday night.

The man waived a handgun at the dog walker at the intersection of Shade Tree and Blueberry lanes at around 4 p.m., according to police.

The man was charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, according to a police incident report.

Further details about what transpired were not available from the police.

The man pleaded not guilty to the charge at his arraignment the following day in First District Court in Central Islip, and a temporary order of protection was issued, online court records show.

He was released on his own recognizance without bail, according to the records.

He was represented by an attorney from the Legal Aid Society, which does not comment on cases.
