Lawndale, Chicago shooting today leaves man dead in 3000-block of West Polk Street, police department says

A man was shot to death on the city's West Side on Saturday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting happened in the Lawndale neighborhood's 3000-block of West Polk Street just before 10:15 a.m.

A man was outside when someone fired shots, striking him throughout the body, police said.

The victim was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately released.

No one is in custody, and area detectives are investigating.
