Latin singer Maria de la Rosa identified as victim of ambush-style murder in San Fernando Valley

A Latin singer has been identified as the victim of an ambush-style murder in the San Fernando Valley, according to multiple reports.

Maria de la Rosa, 22, was inside a parked vehicle when two male suspects approached the car and fired multiple rounds, according to witnesses.

The fatal shooting occurred Saturday at around 1:25 a.m. in the area of Bryant Street east of Tampa Avenue in Northridge, said the Los Angeles Police Department.

De La Rosa was transported to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Two others in the car were injured, but their condition is unknown.

The motive for the shooting is unclear and no arrests have been made.

De La Rosa was a Latin singer growing in popularity with about 40,000 Instagram followers. Many took to her social media comments to express their condolences. Among those in the comments, Mexican American music producer Jimmy Humilde.
