Latin King On Glenwood Ave. Vows To Put Bullets In Head Of Several Joliet Police: Prosecutors Reveal

JOLIET, IL — Days after breaking the news surrounding the Glenwood Avenue arrest of 29-year-old Glenwood Avenue resident Joshua Samoyoa, Joliet Patch has obtained the successful petition to deny pretrial release for the defendant, who is a member of the Latin Kings street gang, prosecutors informed Judge Derek Ewanic.

According to the prosecution's filing, on Dec. 20, at 11 :30 p.m., Joliet officers responded to a domestic call from a female stating that her sister had been beaten up by her boyfriend at a house in the 1400 block Glenwood Avenue in Joliet.

When officers arrived, Samoyoa was walking away from the residence with a red mark on his forehead. He tried to leave but was detained. He refused to give his name. He was uncooperative and intoxicated, court documents show.

He refused orders to stay and was handcuffed. He pulled away and tensed up during handcuffing procedures. He went limp and was placed in the squad car. He kicked Officer Lukasz Gal on the leg, he kicked Officer Mathew Taller on the leg, he kicked Mathew's chest, and he spat on Mathew's leg during the detention and handcuffing, prosecutors alerted Judge Ewanic.

As for Samoya's victim, she had visible injuries. She refused medical attention and refused to cooperate. She hid from officers stating they were not wanted, prosecutors noted.

The defendant threatened the officer's wives and children during the incident. He stated "all n****** hang," according to prosecutors.

The petition outlined that when a spit hood was placed on him, he said, "I'm going to slit your throat, bitch." He went on to say he was going to put a bullet in the head of the people he was fighting with.

He tried to spit on officers throughout the night. At the police station he continuously banged his head on the wall and floor. He was taken to the hospital where he continued to be uncooperative and bit Officer Andy Guzman's finger. His finger was injured and the skin was broken from the bite.

Prosecutors revealed that Samoyoa "has a history of felony aggravated batteries and has made multiple threats to the officers and individuals involved in this case. There is no reason to believe he will not follow through on his threats. The Addison Police Department lists the defendant, in his criminal history, as a Latin King."
