LAPD opens fire on man allegedly armed with rifle in Rampart Village

An investigation was underway following a police shooting in the Rampart Village area early Thursday morning.

Officers say they heard shots being fired on Beverly Boulevard near Vendome Street just before 4:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

When they arrived, they found a man allegedly armed with a rifle.

It's unclear what happened next, but officers opened fire on the man a short time later. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

No officers were injured.
