The Los Angeles Police Department released bodycam video Wednesday of a dramatic shootout at a liquor store in Jefferson Park.
The gun battle happened Aug. 31 around 1:10 a.m. near 9th Avenue and West Jefferson Boulevard.
Two officers tried to detain a man they thought was concealing a weapon, according to the LAPD. Footage shows the suspect was indeed armed with a handgun.
Police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Malik Salaah.
Surveillance video from the store shows the moment Salaah shot at the officers, who were able to get out of the store and call for backup.
But the gun battle didn't end there. Salaah then went to the store entrance and opened fire again. The shootout continued outside the store.
Salaah eventually took off but was later found hiding behind a parked vehicle with a gunshot wound.
He was taken to the hospital and now faces charges for attempted murder of a peace officer.
The officers weren't hurt.
An extended version of the bodycam video was released by the LAPD on its YouTube channel .
