Joseph Czuba death: Plainfield man convicted in hate crime stabbing of Muslim boy Wadee Alfayoumi dies, sheriff says

The man convicted for killing a young boy in a hate crime stabbing has died, the sheriff's office confirmed.

Joseph Czuba, 73, of Plainfield was convicted and sentenced last month for stabbing 6-year-old Wadee Alfayoumi to death.

The 73-year-old died on Thursday, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office.

Czuba, the family's landlord, was convicted for killing the young Muslim boy and stabbing his mother in October 2023.

He was sentenced to 53 years in prison.

Czuba's cause of death was not released.
