‘I Can’t Have Empathy Because I have no Connectivity’: Amanda Seales’ Unfiltered Take on Charlie Kirk Shooting Has Everyone Talking

Former "Insecure" actress Amanda Seales did not hold back when sharing her take on the passing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk—but not everyone agrees on her message or her intent. Kirk — who was a firearms advocate and provocative speaker who claimed the Civil Rights Act was a "huge mistake" — was shot and killed while discussing gun violence at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Sept. 10. Amanda Seales says she has no empathy for conservative activist Charlie Kirk following his shooting death. (Photos: @amandaseales/Instagram; YouTube / CBS Mornings) The deceased was speaking at the "Prove Me Wrong" debate, per CBS News, when the incident took place. After he was asked if he knew how many mass shooters there have been in the country in the last 10 years, Kirk replied, "Counting or not counting gang violence? Great.” ‘I Am Done with Amanda’: Amanda Seales Flees Instagram After Enraging Critics with ‘Idiotic’ Statements that Kamala Harris Lost to Donald Trump Because She Ran Campaign Like a ‘White Man’ The killer — who was on a nearby rooftop — shot Kirk in the neck immediately following his comment with a Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle. Kirk slumped back in his chair and was later declared dead at a local hospital. Trump called Kirk a “martyr for truth" and said his murder was "a dark moment for America.” Several people online have shared mixed feelings about denouncing the killing, while others noted Kirk's incendiary statements about gun rights in the aftermath of the mass school shooting in 2018. Seventeen staffers and students were murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, after a gunman entered the school grounds and opened fire. According to NDTV, Kirk defended the NRA by saying, "It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights — That is a prudent deal." In a video shared by Live Bitez, Seales weighed in upon hearing the news of Kirk's passing and she provided a blunt response as she ate a chocolate bar. “I can't have empathy for somebody like Charlie Kirk," she said. "First of all, Charlie Kirk don’t believe in empathy. He said it’s a bad thing. He said it’s some ‘new-age made-up s**t.’ He also said people got to be sacrificed in order to protect guns. If he was saying that while fighting for reparations, I may have a little bit of empathy." During an Oct. 12, 2022, episode of "The Charlie Kirk Show," Kirk admitted he prefers sympathy over empathy. He said the word empathy was "a made-up, new age term" that did a "lot of damage," along with other disparaging and vile things about George Floyd, Black women, immigrants, and other unique communities. As she continued to rant, someone off-camera notified Seales that Kirk had passed away. "He died? Damn, B," she continued. "Life comes at you fast. I can’t have empathy because I have no connectivity. I have more connectivity to someone who is a complete stranger that dies of a drug overdose than I do to someone like Charlie Kirk. Because life is hard, and I understand that. Because it takes very little for someone to end up committing themselves to, um, an existence of numbness.” "That man got murdered at 31, at a college event in the middle of a sentence, talking 'bout Black gangs. What a way to go," she added. "It's okay to shut the hell up and say nothing sometimes. No one asked her for sympathy, but just don't say anything. No one should die over their political stance. Humanity no longer exists and it's sad," replied one person. "What happened to if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all," noted another user. Others agreed with Seales, given his past comments about Black women. One user wrote, "Moment of honesty, do u think if she was shot, Charlie Kirk would give a flying fck about her?" "This is one of the few times I fully agree with her," added another. "He said these words out of his own mouth," another replied. FBI director Kash Patel has offered up to a $100,000 reward for any information that leads to identifying and arresting the killer.
