Homeowner shot during home invasion in Fish Lake, Indiana, LaPort County sheriff says
A man was shot while interrupting a burglary inside his LaPorte County home.
The sheriff's office said a 66-year-old homeowner first stumbled upon a burglar with two rifles inside his garage.
It happened on Sunday at about 8:09 a.m. in the 200 block of Lakeview Drive in Fish Lake.
The sheriff said that burglar immediately ran away.
The homeowner then allegedly walked inside the home and he saw a second intruder.
"A scuffle ensued between the two," in which the homeowner was shot.
The homeowner was shot in the upper body. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Nobody has been arrested.
No other information was available.
