Homeowner shoots at attempted car thieves in Catasauqua, Lehigh County, wounding 1 suspect

Police in Lehigh County say a homeowner shot at two attempted car thieves, wounding one of them.

It happened at 1 a.m. on Tuesday along the 200 block of 2nd Street in Catasauqua.

Investigators say the homeowner fired shots at the two men as they were attempting to steal a vehicle, striking one of the suspects.

The men were reportedly wearing black masks. Police say one suspect had a knife, and the other was carrying a bar.

Both suspects, including the wounded one, ran away.

Police are searching local hospitals for gunshot victims.

The homeowner was not injured.

No charges have been filed. The incident remains under investigation.
