JOLIET, IL — The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow sought to keep 19-year-old Cicero resident Gabino Perez in the Will County Jail for his three latest Joliet charges of violating an order of protection, but Will County John Pavich has disagreed. Instead, the judge ordered the release for Perez, who was jailed by Joliet police from Aug. 13-15.

According to the prosecutor's petition, on August 9, Joliet police officer Lundberg responded to a house in the 3400 block of Forest View Drive for a violation of a protection order. The 57-year-old homeowner told the officer she has an order of protection against the Cicero teenager, and she received six phone calls from a blocked phone number.

When she answered, Perez was the caller and he had left a message for the woman's teenage daughter, declaring, "I love you" and "I'm sorry," court files show.

The order of protection was issued in Will County on Nov. 6, 2024, and the document was served upon Perez the same day. The protected residence is the house on Forest View Drive in Joliet.

Meanwhile, one week ago, around 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 12, Joliet officer Avila responded to the same house on Forest View Drive and learned Perez had shown up andwas throwing things at the windows. The mother who obtained the protection order told Joliet's officers that she heard someone banging on her windows and looked outside and saw Perez, court files indicate.

Officers spoke to another person at the house who heard someone throwing rocks at her bedroom window and she saw Perez outside, holding a white gift bag. Then, about four hours later, Officer Avila was sent back to the house. This time, the mother told Joliet police that she received at least 15 "No Caller ID" calls and Perez left a voicemail saying, 'I love you' and 'I'm sorry,'" prosecutors noted.

As for Perez, Joliet police spoke with him and he "also made an admission to showing up to the residence with a gift bag and throwing objects at the windows," prosecutors revealed.

Prosecutors informed Judge Pavich that Perez is also already facing a pending domestic battery and resisting arrest case from last August, here in Will County.

Jail records and the order of protection list Perez's first name as Gabino while the State's Attorney criminal complaint has listed his name as Gambino.

"I am requesting an order of protection against Gabino because he hit my daughter and he's dangerous and stalking my daughter," the 2024 order of protection reads. "He has a history of beating people up and he is violent because he beat up a policeman up. He threatened my daughter ... and said he was going to hit her and her brother. He was threatening me on Sunday by cussing and getting in my face."
