Hate Crime Investigation: NYPD investigating beating, knife attack of 26-year-old in Lower East Side as hate crime

Police are investigating a beating and knife attack on the Lower East Side as a hate crime.

Police are asking for help identifying two suspects who were caught on camera.

They said the pair approached a 26-year-old man on East Houston Street and made anti-immigration remarks.

The pair is accused of punching the 26-year-old and slashing him on the arm.

The attack happened three weeks ago, on September 8.

One of the suspects is described as a male, approximately 25 -30 years of age, 5 foot and 8 inches, slender build, short brown hair, brown eyes, and a brown beard. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue and white plaid button-down shirt, tan pants, and white shoes.

The second is described as a male, approximately 25 -30 years of age, 5 foot and 8 inches, slender build, short brown hair, brown eyes, and a brown beard. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored shoes.

This incident is being investigated by the NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force.
