Gunshot Death Under Investigation Near Walmart: Joliet Police
JOLIET, IL — Joliet police confirmed to Patch that officers were at the scene of a gunshot death near the parking lot at the West Jefferson Street Walmart early Monday.
A portion of the Walmart parking lot was cordoned off by police tape, and a section of nearby Joyce Road was closed. The incident occurred in a tree-lined area just outside the Walmart parking lot.
Police say the shooting death appears to be self-inflicted. Officers were called to the scene around 8:25 a.m.
Joliet Police Department spokesman Dwayne English said a gun was recovered at the scene and that the person who is deceased is male.
The Will County Coroner's Office was notified as was en route to the scene.
