A man has died after being found shot on a South Side sidewalk on Friday night, Chicago police said.
Police said officers responded to a call about a person shot in the Grand Crossing neighborhood's 7800-block of South Maryland Avenue around 10:50 p.m.
Officers found a 39-year-old man, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body, on the sidewalk.
The victim was transported in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
There is no one in custody, and Area Two detectives are investigating.
Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
