OSWEGO, IL — A fight broke out Nov. 15 at Five Below in Oswego, leading to a mother-daughter pair from Yorkville being taken into custody on several charges, including aggravated battery, officials said.
Officers were dispatched at about 2:40 p.m. to the discount store, located at 2480 Route 34, for a report of multiple women fighting and breaking merchandise, Oswego Police Department spokesperson Cathy Nevara told Patch.
Police determined the victim, a 28-year-old woman, and the offenders knew each other, Nevara said. It's unclear what started the fight.
Tanika M. Johnson, 50, and 24-year-old Chyna M. Johnson, of Omaha Drive in Yorkville, were charged with aggravated battery, mob action, battery and disorderly conduct as a result of the fight.
Nevara said the mob action charge resulted from "the knowing or reckless use of force or violence, disturbing the public peace by two or more persons acting together and without authority of law."
The women were booked at police headquarters, then taken to the Kendall County jail to await bond call. Both were released Monday on pre-trial conditions set by a judge.
