Elderly Siblings Found Dead Of Apparent Gunshot Wounds In Oak Lawn Home

OAK LAWN, IL — Two elderly siblings were discovered dead of apparent gunshot wounds Thursday in their Oak Lawn home, police said.

Shortly after noon, Oak Lawn police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 10000 South block of Maple Avenue to conduct a well-being check.

A healthcare worker attempted to contact the siblings inside the home. When they didn't answer the door, the healthcare worker called police.

When officers entered the home, they discovered two elderly siblings deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. A gun was recovered at the scene, police said.

Police said the incident appears to be "isolated in nature." Oak Lawn detectives are not looking for additional people possibly involved at this time.

Both siblings were transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, where autopsies are expected to be performed Friday afternoon. The pair have not been identified pending notification of family.

The investigation remains ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
