A jury found a suburban man guilty of a road rage shooting that killed a man heading home from work in Elgin.
The shooting happened in the morning of August 22, 2020, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's office.
Dru K. Jarvis, of Lake in the Hills, was a passenger in a car heading south on Route 31, or North State Street, in Elgin.
Meanwhile, Francisco Trujillo-Uscanga, 41 of Elgin, was also traveling south on Route 31 as the passenger in a Mini Cooper.
The driver of the Mini Cooper was Trujillo-Uscanga's coworker. Officials said they were heading home from work in Huntley.
Officials said the driver of Jarvis's car tried to enter the lane of the Mini Cooper, and the Mini Cooper's driver honked his horn.
The car pulled next to the Mini Cooper near the intersection at Kimball Street, and Jarvis fired multiple gunshots.
Trujillo-Uscanga was shot in the torso. He died at a nearby hospital, officials said.
The driver of the Mini Cooper was shot multiple times in the legs.
Jarvis was arrested one week later for a separate shooting. He was found guilty in that case, which helped officials connect him to the deadly 2020 shooting.
Nearly five years later, a jury found him guilty of first degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and armed violence.
He is due in court on December 3 for a sentencing hearing.
