Driver killed, passenger kidnapped after dispute leads to suspect rams victims' car near Montclair school
A dispute involving two suspects and a trio of victims led to a fatal crash outside a school in Montclair early Wednesday, followed by the kidnapping of a woman who later managed to escape, authorities said.
The sequence of events began with an argument between the two parties late Tuesday night that prompted the suspects to chase the three victims -- two men and a woman -- in their car, the Montclair Police Department said.
The suspects at one point rammed the back end of the other vehicle, causing it to spin out and slam into a tree near Buena Vista Arts-Integrated Magnet School on San Bernardino Street. The driver died in the crash, the male passenger ran from the scene, and a female passenger was taken by the suspects.
She was then taken to Ontario, where she managed to get away from the suspects and contact police.
The suspects remained at large Wednesday afternoon. No descriptions were available.
