A crash on Interstate 580 over the weekend claimed the life of a 66-year-old man from Tracy, and California Highway Patrol investigators suspect alcohol or drugs may have played a role. Officers responded to the crash around 4:45 a.m. Sunday on eastbound I-580 west of Grant Line Road. CHP said a 21-year-old man from Stockton was driving a Honda Accord when he crashed into the back of a Tesla Model Y. The driver of the Tesla was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. He has not yet been identified. CHP said the driver of the Honda sustained moderate injuries in the crash and was taken to Valley Care Medical Center for treatment. He was later arrested and booked into the Alameda County Santa Rita Jail. Any witnesses to the crash are urged to contact officers A. Reyes or R. Purl at 925-828-0466.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel
