Deputies shoot and kill man with knife during San Jose traffic stop, police say
A person was shot and killed by Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies on Monday evening during a traffic stop, according to the San Jose Police Department.
Just after 7:30 p.m. in the area of College Drive and Fruitdale Avenue in San Jose, a man who was pulled over and allegedly armed with a knife was shot, according to police. He was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and died.
The shooting is being investigated by San Jose police and the department expects to release more information on Tuesday. The Sheriff's Office was not available for comment.
As of 11:30 p.m., street closures were in place at the scene and people were asked to avoid the area.
