The defense attorney for the man accused of shooting through the lobby of ABC10 last week argues that his client's political views should not be held against him in the case. Mark Reichel, representing Anibal Hernandez Santana, emphasized his client's background as a Puerto Rican, attorney, UC Berkeley graduate, and Army veteran, highlighting his lifelong advocacy for progressive causes."So they're using this case where there's this shooting and front and center talking about his politics," Reichel said. "And I hope that we can say that if he's the one who does this crime, you know, that's wrong. But his politics, it's not a crime."Hernandez Santana is currently held without bail, despite Reichel's petition for house arrest.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel
