Cops Catch Driver In DUI Crash After Chase Through Cornfield: Sheriff
MANHATTAN TOWNSHIP — A Florida man was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of a crash, after hitting a cement truck and then fleeing authorities on foot last week in Manhattan Township.
On March 19 just before 9:30 a.m., Will County Sheriff's deputies were called to Route 52 and S. Cedar Road in Manhattan Township, for an accident with injuries. Deputies found a cement truck with side front end damage, and a Buick Encore with heavy front-end damage and air bag deployments left in a ditch.
Manhatttan Fire Protection District personnel were already at the scene, and told dispatch that the occupant of an SUV in the crash was uncooperative, and had fled on foot, according to Will County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Kevin Hedemark.

The driver of the Buick—identified as Adam D. Marsh, 40, of Hudson, Florida—was apprehended and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
"We're grateful that no one was seriously hurt, and grateful for the great working relationship we have with Will County Sheriff's Police," Manhattan Police Chief Ryan Gulli said in a statement to Patch.
Video footage from the cement truck showed the Buick Encore travelling on S. Cedar Rd at a high rate of speed. As it approached Route 52, the Buick crossed into oncoming traffic, making impact with the cement truck that was travelling in the opposite direction, the sheriff's office said. The driver of the cement truck was not injured.
Marsh exhibited numerous signs of driving under the influence but refused field sobriety tests, police said. After a medical examination at the hospital, he was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without insurance, failure to give aid or information, improper lane usage, and unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver.
He was taken to the Will County Jail. Jail records show he is no longer in custody Tuesday.
