CONCORD, NH — A man from Penacook was arrested in Loudon on multiple charges on Tuesday night after being accused of firing a gun into the floor of a Penacook home and fleeing the area.
Around 7:30 p.m., officers were sent to Summer Street near Steeple View Street for a report of yelling on the side of the road between people who appeared to be intoxicated. The suspect, a man, reportedly went to the trunk of his car, grabbed a firearm, and loaded it, the witness said.
The witness also said one of the men went into a nearby apartment.
A second person called and told police the man was yelling at the other man appeared to be intoxicated. They left the scene in a dark sedan owned by a Penacook man.
Several officers went to the area, but before they arrived, another call was reported from Elm Street near Maple Drive for a report of another man who fired a gun into the kitchen floor.
The officers split up and headed to both locations.
The caller reported to police the man was entering and exiting the home, and later, was outside of the home, but they did not know where. They noted he smelled like alcohol, too.
An officer requested radio silence (Signal 1,000) while they dealt with the Elm Street call.
The man, 20, with priors, then reportedly fled the scene in a white GMC Sierra pickup. An officer took information from the victim and requested a BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) for the suspect and the pickup truck on felony theft, domestic, and felony reckless conduct, "at this point." The officer also requested dispatch contact Loudon police and have them check an address on Hilltop Drive, near Clough Pond Road.
One officer told dispatch, "It looks like there is sometime of bullet that was shot in the kitchen, in the ground," just before 8 p.m. Another officer said they were tracking the suspect, and they were in the area of Old Shaker Road and Lovejoy Road in Loudon. Later, the suspect turned onto Flagg Road and then headed to Hilltop Drive.
"Loudon is aware," dispatch told the officer.
An officer requested the evidence technician van to Elm Street while Loudon police and Merrimack County sheriff's deputies went to Hilltop Drive.
Just before 8:15 p.m., the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody. The gun was also secured, according to scanner chatter.
Later, an officer said a shell casing appeared to have been removed from the scene of the floor shooting.
A tow truck was requested for the pickup.
At the time of publication, it is unknown whether the Summer Street and Elm Street incidents are connected.
