A Chino police officer shot and killed a man who allegedly pulled out a handgun following a traffic stop overnight.
The incident unfolded just before 10 p.m. Wednesday after officers pulled over a car for an unspecified code violation on Central Avenue, according to the Chino Police Department.
Some sort of struggle followed with an officer and the man, who was a passenger in the car. Police say the man drew the gun, prompting the officer to fire one round.
The man was struck and taken to the hospital, where he later died. The woman who was driving the car he was in was not arrested or injured.
The officer sustained some injuries during the confrontation, and was treated and later released.
Additional details about the shooting were not available.
