Chicago shooting: Woman killed, man critically hurt in Lawndale shooting on Roosevelt near Independence, police say

A woman killed and a is man critically hurt in a Lawndale shooting on Saturday night, Chicago police said.

The shooting happened at about 8:10 p.m. in the 3800-block of W. Roosevelt Road, police said.

When police arrived, medical staff with the Chicago Fire Department were responding to a woman and a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

A woman, 22, was unresponsive on the ground; police said she had been shot multiple times in the chest. She was taken to Stroger Hospital where she died.

A 26-year-old man was treated for a gunshot wound to the back. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Nobody is in custody.

CPD is investigating the shooting.
