Chicago shooting, today: Teen shot after being approached by group in South Shore in 2600-block of E. 79th Street, police say

A teenager was shot after a being ambushed by a group on Friday morning, Chicago police said.

The shooting happened at about 11:37 a.m. in the 2600-block of E. 79th Street, police said.

A 16-year-old boy was walking when a group approached him, police said.

Somebody in the group pulled out a gun and shot the teen in the left arm.

He was dropped off at an area hospital; he is expected to be OK.

Nobody is in custody.

CPD Area Two detectives are investigating.
