Chicago shooting today: Man shot while walking into Chicago Lawn bar in 3300-block of West 63rd Street, police department says

Someone shot a man as he walked into a South Side bar early Saturday, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting happened in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood's 3300-block of West 63rd Street just before 1 a.m.

A 35-year-old man was walking into the bar when a male offender shot at him, police said.

The victim, shot in the body multiple times, was taken to Christ Hospital in fair condition.

Police said the suspect, whose age was not immediately known, fled the scene.

There is no one in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
