Chicago shooting: Skokie man charged in shooting of woman in Edgewater, police say

A Skokie man has been charged with aggravated battery for a shooting in the Edgewater neighborhood Monday morning.

The shooting took place at about 9 a.m. in the 5700-block of North Broadway.

Police said a woman, 23, was in an argument with 28-year-old Justin Abbott.

Abbott then pulled out a gun and shot the woman in the left shoulder, police said.

She was rushed to an area hospital in serious condition.

Wednesday morning, police said Abbott has been charged with one count of aggravated battery/discharge firearm.

Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth said in a letter to residents that the incident appears to be possible road rage.

Manaa-Hoppenworth said the woman's injuries were non-life threatening.
