Chicago shooting, North Austin: 17-year-old Melissa Castrejon shot, killed in 1800-block of N. Latrobe Avenue, officials say
A 17-year-old Chicago girl has been identified as the victim of a West Side shooting , officials said.
The shooting happened on Sunday at about 9:38 p.m. in the 1800-block of N. Latrobe Avenue in the North Austin neighborhood, according to Chicago police.
A 17-year-old girl was in a car when she was shot in the back by known man, police said.
She was taken to Mt. Sinai hospital in critical condition where she died, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The victim was identified as Melissa Castrejon of the South Austin neighborhood.
Chicago police said nobody is in custody. CPD continues their investigation.
