Chicago shooting: Man shot, killed in 100-block of N. Elizabeth in West Town identified as Jerrodte Shelby by officials, police

A man was shot to death in Chicago's West Town neighborhood, police said.

The shooting happened on Sunday at about 3:04 a.m. in the 100 block of N. Elizabeth Street, police said.

When police arrived to the scene, they found a 28-year-old man on the ground with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said.

He was taken to Stroger hospital; his condition was not immediately known.

On Monday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the victim had died.

He was identified as Jerrodte Shelby, the medical examiner said.

Nobody is in custody.
