Chicago shooting injures woman on Roosevelt in South Loop, CPD says; officers seen near Wingstop

A woman was shot Tuesday afternoon in Chicago's South Loop, Chicago police said.

The 20- to 25-year-old woman was involved in a verbal altercation with a female suspect she did not know outside a business in the 500-block of West Roosevelt Road about 1:25 p.m., police said.

The suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire, police said.

The woman was shot in the leg, and was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, police said.

The suspect then drove away in a vehicle, according to CPD.

No one is in custody, and Area Three detectives are investigating.

Police officers were seen walking in and out of a Wingstop restaurant in a strip mall in the area.
