Chicago shooting: Boy, 17, killed in Uptown shooting, police say

A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in the Uptown neighborhood Monday morning, Chicago police said.

The shooting took place at about 12:18 a.m. in the 5000-block of North Winthrop Avenue.

Police said the teen was standing outside when he was approached by a group of eight male suspects.

One of the suspects took out a gun and fired in the victim's direction, hitting him multiple times, police said.

The victim was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No one is in custody and Area Three detectives are investigating.
