Chicago shooting: 4-year-old girl shot in the leg in East Garfield Park in 3100-block of W Franklin Boulevard, police say

Chicago police are investigating after a 4-year-old girl was shot in the leg on the city's West Side.

The shooting happened at about 6:10 p.m. in the 3100 block of W. Franklin Boulevard, Chicago police said.

Police said the young girl was in an apartment when she sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg.

She was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.

Chicago police did not say if they were searching for a suspect.
