Chicago shooting: 2 off-duty Cook County deputies shot at outside Mt. Sinai: Hospital, police say

Two off-duty Cook County Sheriff's deputies were shot at outside of Mt. Sinai Hospital Wednesday morning, Chicago police and the sheriff's office said.

The shooting took place at about 3:36 a.m. in the 1500-block of South California Avenue.

Police said two men, ages 27 and 28, were driving northbound when a silver sedan approached and someone inside opened fire.

The vehicle the men were in was struck, but no one was injured, police said.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office confirmed that both men are deputies who were off duty.

The suspect's vehicle then fled the scene eastbound.

No one is in custody and Area Four detectives are investigating.
