Chicago crime: Man beaten to death by bat-wielding driver in South Side road-rage incident on South Wells Street, police say

A man was beaten to death by another driver with a bat during a road-rage incident Friday on the city's South Side.

The attack happened around 3:44 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Wells Street, Chicago police said.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, was involved in a road-rage incident with another driver, an unknown male offender, CPD said. The offender had a bat and used it to strike the victim multiple times.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. His identity was not yet known.

The offender fled the scene in a dark SUV. No arrests have been made.

No further information was immediately available as Chicago police continue to investigate.
