Charlie Kirk, a powerful right wing activist, influential podcaster and Trump ally, was shot and killed on Wednesday while hosting an event at Utah Valley University.

He was the founder of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit devoted to the propagation of right-wing beliefs among young Americans.
Kirk was known for visiting college campuses across the country and debating students on a variety of political topics. He had just begun what was being called the American Comeback Tour.

Here's a timeline of some recent events Kirk held in California.
May 1 - UC San Diego in La Jolla
This stop on his American Comeback Tour had over 300 attendees, with no major incidents reported.
May 5 - Cal State Long Beach
During this visit, there were debates on LGBTQ+ issues, immigration, and Trump's policies. Over 1,000 people attended.

May 6 - San Francisco State University
It was MAGA mania at San Francisco State University as Charlie Kirk visited as part of his American comeback tour. Despite backlash, organizers say the event's goal was to create a space for dialogue across the political spectrum.
May 13 - UC Riverside
There was a large crowd reported at UC Riverside, with MAGA supporters and protesters, and a punk show that was shut down by campus police.
March 6 - Cal State Northridge
The Deaf community protested Kirk's past comments, and pro-Israel and anti-Kirk factions clashed.
Sept 2 - Visalia First Assembly of God Church
Just last week, Kirk was at a private event at Visalia First Church. The event called "Advancing the Mission" was organized by the church and pro-life group Tulare-Kings Resources for Life. Some gathered outside of the church to protest the event.

Kirk also made several stops in California in previous years, including one at Cal State Long Beach in Oct. 2018 and one at UC Santa Barbara on March 1, 2023.
