Causes Of Death For Newlyweds Fatally Shot On Route 14 Released; Manner Of Death Still Under Investigation

None

HARVARD, IL — Authorities have determined the newlyweds who were found shot dead in their car on Route 14 earlier this month both died from gunshot wounds to the head. But the manner in which Rachel Dumovich, 29, and Brandon Dumovich, 30, died has not yet been determined, McHenry County Coroner Michael Rein told Patch this past week.

It's unclear when authorities will make an official ruling on what was the manner of death.

"There is no timeline to be completed with this investigation but our goal is to always go through all evidence presented before making any determination for not only this case but all cases within the Coroner's Office," Rein said.

The couple was just days shy from celebrating their first wedding anniversary when a Harvard Police Department Officer found them fatally shot in a car parked in the northbound lanes of traffic in the 700 block of North Division Street at about 11:50 p.m. on October 6. The vehicle's hazard lights were on, police said.

A gun was found inside the vehicle, police said.

Police have said the incident "appears to be isolated" and there was no danger or threat to the public following the shootings.

The couple has ties to Crystal Lake but was most recently living in Sharon, Wisconsin.
