Police arrested and charged a Brooklyn man with murder after he allegedly shot and killed a 24-year-old in his own building Sunday.

Officers took Flatbush resident Yonathan Guzman, 22, into custody shortly before 5 p.m., charging him with murder and three counts of criminal weapons possession, NYPD officials said.

Guzman is accused of shooting the 24-year-old man inside the apartment building on Dorchester Road near East 21st Street in Flatbush early Sunday. Police said they responded to a 911 call about someone shot at the address around 2 a.m.

Officers found the 24-year-old with a gunshot wound to his torso, according to officials. He was taken to Kings County Hospital and pronounced dead.

Police have not released the victim’s identity as they work to notify his family. They said they are investigating a potential motive in the shooting and the circumstances leading up to it.

Guzman’s attorney information was not immediately available early Monday as he awaited his arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
