Braun Levi death: Family of teen killed in suspected drunk driving crash in Manhattan Beach files wrongful death lawsuit

The parents of an 18-year-old student who was killed in a crash in Manhattan Beach earlier this year have filed a $200 million wrongful death lawsuit.

Braun Levi, who was a tennis player at Loyola High School, was run over by a suspected drunk driver in May while walking along Sepulveda Boulevard.

The lawsuit filed on Wednesday claims the driver, Jenia Resha Belt, was a "repeat offender drunk driver having been previously arrested and prosecuted for drunk driving and causing an injury collision."

Belt was driving on a suspended license at the time of the crash, and records show her license was suspended because of a previous drunk driving arrest.

Belt admitted to drinking beforehand and her blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

The lawsuit states that the Levi family is seeking damages in the name of the Live Like Braun Foundation to honor Braun and to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving.
