A suspect robbed a South Side convenience store before carjacking a woman in the parking lot on Saturday night, Chicago police said.
Police said it happened at a store in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood near West 79th Street and South Racine Avenue around 8:45 p.m.
The suspect, a male of an unknown age, entered the store and stood in line. Police said when the cashier opened the register, the suspect implied that he had a weapon before jumping over the counter, taking money and running outside.
The suspect ran into the parking lot, where he got into a 33-year-old woman's blue SUV, police said. He demanded that the woman get out of her vehicle before driving off with it, heading westbound.
No injuries were reported. There is no one in custody, and Area Two detectives are investigating.
Police did not immediately provide further information.
