HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Authorities are searching for an armed man in Hillsborough and township schools have been placed on lockdown on Tuesday.
"This is an active police scene," said Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Chief of Detectives Frank Roman Jr. to Patch.
The search for the armed man is ongoing in the area of 649 Route 206 in Hillsborough as of 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
"Police are searching for an armed suspect that fled the area," said Hillsborough Township Police in an alert to residents.
"Residents in the area should use caution and lock their doors. As a precaution the Township schools have been placed in a secure hold," said police.
