The father of an 11-year-old girl shot in the head in Antioch Monday said he feels like his heart is being ripped out.
"My family is everything to me," he said in Spanish.
The girl remains in critical condition at UCSF Benioff Children's hospital in Oakland.

Police say her family was in a car leaving the Delta View Apartments on Delta Fair Boulevard heading to the store when somebody shot the girl.
Police say they were innocent bystanders and they don't believe the family was the intended target.
The girl's father doesn't want to share his identity, still fearful for his family's safety.
"She says, 'dad, why can't I see?"' the father said in Spanish. "It hurts me so much. Those are words I don't think any dad could handle."
"I'm still in shock," the victim's aunt said in Spanish. "I can't believe everything that's happened. It's very difficult."
The girl's aunt lit religious candles at her home to pray for her niece.
"It's tough because I'm her Godmother, her aunt," said aunt, Anahi Ramirez. "I'm sister of her dad. We've always been united. It's very hard to see her like that."
The girl's father said he'd like the apartment complex to be more secure.
"I've felt a little unsafe because I'm not the first victim there," he said.
Antioch police are still asking the public for any information or surveillance video of the incident to reach out to them.
