9-year-old dies after suspected DUI crash in Roseville

A woman accused of driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested after causing a crash in Roseville that killed a 9-year-old girl on Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said. According to CHP, the crash happened around 5:20 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 80 after the driver of a Hyundai Elantra lost control of their vehicle suddenly and spun out. That cause the car to be disabled in the fast lane.The driver, a 36-year-old woman from Sacramento, got out of the car and started walking along the shoulder, CHP said. Many cars swerved around the disabled Hyundai but the driver of a Honda CR-V was unable to avoid hitting it. CHP said the driver of the CR-V was a 50-year-old man from Fremont. There were two juvenile passengers in the car, including a 9-year-old girl who died in the hopsital after suffering major injuries in the crash. The woman who left her Hyundai on the freeway was approached by officers on the shoulder of I-80 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI, CHP said.
