A 9-year-old boy was killed and a 19-year-old was injured when they were struck by an RV in Koreatown on Thursday night, according to police.
The driver of the RV was detained on suspicion of DUI, Los Angeles police said.
Firefighters responded to the 300 block of South New Hampshire Avenue, one block west of Vermont Avenue, at approximately 7:25 p.m. Thursday, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.
Paramedics took a 19-year-old male to the hospital in stable condition, while the 9-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased child's name was being withheld pending notification of relatives. The cause of the collision is under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
