5 people hurt after driver hits group of pedestrians in Chinatown, Los Angeles police say

Several pedestrians were hurt when they were hit by a car in Chinatown on Friday.

The crash happened at Alameda Street and Alpine Street shortly before noon, according to Los Angeles police.

There were five patients total -- four of them were transported to the hospital, and one reportedly refused treatment.

Police said a woman behind the wheel of a black SUV crashed into the victims, and after the collision, a fight broke out.

Officers detained two to four people at the scene, according to LAPD.
