49-year-old arrested for attempted murder after police say he allegedly attacked man, woman 'because of their ancestry'
Police are investigating an attempted murder in Council Bluffs.Officers were called to the area of 29th Street and Avenue E around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a disturbance.When they arrived, officers saw Daniel Smith, 49, involved in a physical altercation with a man and woman.CBPD said Smith was identified as the aggressor, and "probable cause was established that he assaulted the victims with the intent to cause serious injury and because of their ancestry."Both victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for lacerations.Smith was arrested for attempt to commit murder, assault in violation of individual rights with a dangerous weapon, and domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury.NAVIGATE: Home | Weather | Local News | National | Sports | Newscasts on demand |
