MINOOKA, IL — In one of the area's most viral posts shared on Facebook on Friday night, Amy Reilly announced that her stepson is recovering at the Loyola Medical Center after being viciously attacked by a group of people apparently out toilet-papering homes in the middle of the night last weekend at the Ninovan Estates subdivision along Minooka Road in rural Minooka.
On Friday night, Reilly informed everyone that the reward is now up to $3,000 and "Wow we never expected this, I just wanted to get the word out. Thank you so much."
Earlier, Reilly shared two photos of her stepson showing him in a hospital bed and with bloody eye.
"It breaks my heart that I have to write this post, but we are pleading for anyone's help," she shared on Facebook. "My stepson, who is an amazing young man, sweetest kindest person I know, was violently attacked at his home last Friday, Oct. 3 in Ninovan Estates just after midnight in Minooka."
Last weekend also marked the annual homecoming festivities for Minooka High School and the community.
"There was a group of about eight people dressed in black with black ski masks teepeeing houses," Reilly shared. "Just reaching out to anyone in that area who may have a Ring camera or any information."
She indicated that her stepson is now recovering at Loyola's trauma center in Maywood after undergoing a six-hour surgery on his face after being punched from behind.
She said it will take three months to recover and he will miss part of his freshman year at Illinois State University. "Our hearts are so broken for him," she posted on Facebook. "The person that did this has to be caught."
