The victim told deputies he was at the property to look at a tent trailer for sale when he was shot in the face unprovoked, officials said. The suspected shooter, Samuel Mattia, was arrested the same day. But following the shooting, the sheriff's office said the victim was further assaulted with bats by Mattia and another person he couldn't identify at the time. Mattia then stole the victim's vehicle and drove away, with the victim's friend still inside, before he was apprehended by deputies. The victim survived the attack. The sheriff's office has now identified the suspected second attacker as Robert Treat. Treat was initially detained by deputies the day of the assault, officials said, but was released at the scene when his involvement could not be immediately proven.Treat was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. Both he and Mattia are ineligible for bail. Treat is set to appear in court on Friday.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel
