A 24-year-old man is in the hospital after being shot by Vallejo police on Friday.
Police say they were called for a report of vandalism on a vehicle at the Blue Rock Village apartment complex off Ascot Parkway.
When police arrived, the suspect was walking toward officers with what they say looked like a handgun.
Police said the suspect pointed the gun at them and fired their weapons.
Vallejo PD said the suspect was holding a BB or Pellet gun.
The man was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he is recovering.
The Solano County Major Crimes Task Force is leading the criminal investigation. An independent investigator will also review the incident, police said. Vallejo police will also convene a Critical Incident Review Board to evaluate tactics, training, and response.
