23-year-old man accused in 2 Stockton homicides, police say

A 23-year-old man suspected in the August shooting death of an 18-year-old man in Stockton is also believed to have killed a 19-year-old woman earlier that month, police said.On Aug. 30, the 18-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the area of Albany and Astor drives. The victim died of his injuries at the hospital on Sept. 16. Police said Tuesday that Walter Burgess, the suspect in that case, was identified and then arrested during a traffic stop by the department’s Gang Street Enforcement Team. Stockton police said Wednesday that he was also suspected in the Aug. 21 deadly shooting of a 19-year-old woman. That victim was shot and killed near Anderson Park on North El Dorado Street and died at the hospital.
